CAMY REPORT
Camy has proved its mettle with CEM-2007, an annual Commerce Educational Meet which was organized by the Department of Commerce with the objective of "Discover Commerce beyond the Classroom on 30th of Nov and on 1st of Dec. the purpose of the event was to bring and maintain equilibrium between theoretical study and realistic applications.
30th Dec saw a vast crowd queued from various colleges to register themselves for various competitions. The prelims were conducted to screen the best five participants for finals that were to be conducted next day. About 20 colleges & around 200 participants took part enthusiastically for the prelims.
Mrs. Olivia Lazarus from English Department and Mr. Durgesh Lal from Computer Science Dept extended their help in scrutinizing tje final contestants for VOLITIONS- a micro presentation competition. The most controversial topics were given to prepare a PPT of 5 min.to the participants, i.e,1.Credit Cards a boon or Bane. 2 Impact of SEZs.
The afternoon session saw a thrilling yet confusing clues for treasure hunt -Mary's Gold, with a typical theme "Bhool-Bhulaiyaa" where one could see ‘tantris’ giving clues to participants and in all rounds accompanied by the latest foot- tapping numbers from the very movie, to pep up the mood of the participants. They had to tie anklets to their feet smear themselves with lipstick on eyes and many such offbeat activities that added a dash of humor and sport to the event. One should appreciate the ideas of Sagar & Kiran Patel of B.com-III.
On Dec 1st the main event began with a prayer with our college choir and lighting of the lamp by Mrs. Mary Reddy, Secretary, SMES. Miss Alekhya welcomed the guests and participants. Mrs. Geetanjali, HOD introduced the Guest of honour of the day Mr. C. Suresh to the gathering. Mr. B.A. Reddy, Chairman briefed up about the history of St. Mary's and applauded commendable efforts of the department and commerce students .Mr. C. Suresh , FCA, who had the audience spellbound with his talk about 12 principles to be followed by students regarding the "emerging principles for accounting professionals" right from self discipline ,goal setting to equi-voice and equanomy. Our Principal, Mr. T. Rabbai Puthiran conveyed his wishes to gathering.
The morning programmes started with Volitions , which was judged by Dr. (Mrs) J. Sriprabha, HOD, Dept. of Commerce, Kasturba Degree college for women and Mrs. Kavitha Anand , Head Comp Science Dept. where in Alekhya and Mehraj of St. Mary's bagged the 1st prize followed by runners from St. Francis. The judge Mrs. Sriprabha advised the participants how to better their performance. The Brand Picks the next on agenda the most awaited event where there were prizes for audience too. It was all about products and their prices, brands, punch-lines, jingles of advertisements. Out of 60 teams 10 teams were finalized where the final winners were from Aurora Degree College. Ms. Jayalaxmi, lecturer in commerce conducted the event with a vivacious spirit that won the heart of many of the audience.
The afternoon session started with the event Word War (a case study analysis), which was a brainstorming study on the given cases and to solve them with analysis alternative solutions. Mrs. Kavitha Thakur, lecturer in commerce organized the prelims for 10 teams and final five were judged by Mrs. Srilatha reddy, HOD, Dept. Of Commerce , Bhavans's Degree College and Mr. Vinay Sharma a corporate trainer, TCG group.
The Reality show , on the Job Show really had student participants on their nerves. Mr. Kiran consultant , Outsourcing TCG group conducted the interviews with the help of Mr. Vinay Sharma. The finalists were scrutinized after a written test and attending a group discussion which was done meticulously by Mr. T. Ebenezer Head, English Dept.The personal interview was conducted to test their patience, purpose and for their tact and presence of mind. M. R. Kaleem of St. Mary's succeeded ultimately with an offer letter by his elegant, poised and disciplined response to the same. Mr. Nag Raju, lecturer in commerce, took the initiative in organizing the entire event.
The evening of the day witnessed the most spectacular show: the Corporate Fashion Show. The participants must represent a company and had to explain the vision and mission of that company. The judges for the event Mrs. M.Varalakshmi, Senior Manager, HR, Immigration, and Mrs Jayshree Sanghni, Treasurer , (an NGO ) Fkki organisation and counseling psychologist were immensely impressed with the performance of the participants.
A student from St. Francis won the 1st prize for her unique answers and runners of the show was a St. Marian. .
Mr. Mahender Reddy, Director, St. Mary's college, praised the continual and promising efforts of the department and students in making the event a grand success in his valedictory address. The event ended with prize distribution where trophies, certificates, gift vouchers from Orra Jewellers ,Jagadamba jewellers, and Clearvision opticals. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by HOD, Mrs. Geetanjali, wherein she thanked all the sponsors, (KDMTMT Bars, Navayuga,and Akasam Consultancy , BIrla Shakti etc), Mangement, principal, CAMY members, Radio Partner, Big F.M,and all the members of department,Mr. K.Srinivas, . Miss . Jayalaxmi. Mrs. Kavitha, Mr. Nagaraju, Miss. Sameena, Mrs. Zubaida and Mrs.Irin Sutha
Kudos to the efforts of CAMY members .Mahesh Patel, Sunil, Alekhya, Swetha, Mehraj, Sagar, Kiran,Safa, Rohit Jain , Atalluah,and Suresh the outgoing members were presented by momentos by Dept. of Commerce at the end for their unmatchable and un-conconditional efforts.
