Cmde. (Retd.) VN  Ajit Kumar comes with a rich experience and a strong academic background. 

Cmde. Ajit is a  graduate in mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum and Postgraduate in Systems & Control Engineering from IIT (Bombay) with 33 years service in the Indian Navy with wide range of Marine Engineering, Industrial and Managerial experience.

He has been a faculty of Marine Engineering at undergraduate level at Naval College of Engineering for B.Tech courses affiliated to JNU and for the Marine Engineering Specialisation course. He has also taught Marine Engineering  at postgraduate level (M.tech) and has served as a Head of Naval Wing at the Institute of Armament Technology.

He was a recognised examiner and project guide of the Pune University for M.Tech (Mechanical). Cmde Ajit also was in charge of the Operation and first line Maintenance of ship’s machinery on board Aircraft Carrier and Frigate. 

Commodore also overlooked Maintenance & Naval Dockyards yards at Mumbai, Kochi and Visakhapatanam in Production, Maintenance & Quality Control at various levels from Asst. Manager to  DGM. Cmde Ajit was also responsible for Shipbuilding project management , Specification, Development and Procurement of marine engineering equipment for new ships. He was also involved in a special project in indigenous development of Major Marine Engineering equipment.

Cmde Ajit also headed a Machinery Trials Unit responsible for machinery health analysis and acceptance trial of ship’s equipment and machinery.
 
A versatile personality and a richly experienced professional, Cmde Ajit is also proficient in software skills like COBOL, Fortran, C, MS Office. He loves to read fiction, non fiction, historical &  technical books.
