The Department of Statistics in collaboration with the department of Mathematics had organized a community service on 31st July 2010 to THARA –Tender Home for Anawim Rest and Awakening, Secunderabad that fostered kids that have been orphaned, abandoned or are runaways. These children were taken off the streets and railway stations and given shelter at this center. This was an all boys home where they are provided shelter and education. The children below fifteen are attending regular school. The children above fifteen are being sent to different places to acquire different skills like, automobile mechanism, driving, tailoring, house keeping, and hotel management, etc.
ACHIEVEMENT:
About 50 students along with the members of the Department visited the organization. Transportation was arranged by the students. They contributed voluntarily and generously towards gifts like stationary items, tiffin boxes, chocolates, toys etc. It was a great experience to talk to Sr. Elizabeth who is the caregiver of the children and we thoroughly enjoyed the time with the kids. The visit was very informative and encouraging for students. |
