 Field Trip to AG Bio-tech

The students of third year Biotechnology went to “AG Bioteck” at Nampally on 30th august 2011. The main objective of AG Bioteck is to provide a commercial interface for Agriculture Biotechnologies to increase the Food production to meet the ever growing population.The company supplies a wide assortment of plants such as cash crops, cut flowers, ornamental fruits spices, medicinal and timber yielding woody trees of highest quality, to the Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and tourism industry .Because of the commitment to quality and quantity, AG Bio tech is the first organization from India which has been accredited for its Tissue Culture Facilities for export of Tissue plants from AQIS, Department of primary industries & Energy, Government of Australia.AG Bioteck is regular supplier of Tissue Culture Plants to the various Govt. Departments, Corporates and individual growers in India & Abroad.The students were first taken around to the tissue culture lab where they taught about the tissue cultured plants and the various stages involved in followed by the hardening processes and micro propagated plants. They were then shown the culture media preparation room and explained about the different steps involved in it. Following this they were taken to the green house where primary and secondary hardening is carried out. They also had a wide variety of plants & Shurbs. It was a very enlightening trip for the students since the plant tissue culture is an important topic for their syllabus. It also helped them learn and understand the process better with the practical exposure.
