As part of the extension activities of the college, the Department organizes Guest Lectures frequently by inviting academicians or personalities from the Industry. The purpose of these lectures is to enrich the students with latest information pertaining to the subjects of their study and to develop Industry- Institution interface.

The first Guest Lecture for the academic year 2011 – 2012 was held on 21^st July, for the students of II & III year B.Com (Advertising) on the topic “ Types of Sales Promotion”. The Resource Person was Mr. Shanthanu Gosh, Dean of Students Welfare at the upcoming South State Business School, he is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Lucknow and a Graduate of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. He comes with rich experience in business development and academics and has worked for leading corporates like HCL Hewlett Packard Ltd., and Satyam Computer Services. He honed his entrepreneurial skills with a self-funded startup, NexGen Systems, offering technology products and services. He has, since then, been actively associated as an Advisor to several startups and is a seasoned educator-entrepreneur. 

The speaker made sure that he had the attention of all the students by keeping the session interactive and interesting. He threw light on the subtle difference between the various key terminology of the Advertising and sales Promotion. He related the concepts of the subject with various live examples and quoting success stories some very famous brands like- Nike, Air Jordan, Lufthansa etc. who had used various techniques of sales promotion and had been extensively benefitted. The most important aspect was that the students understood the topics well and they were also relating the learned topics with various live examples. 

 Mr. Shanthanu Gosh with his rich knowledge had taken the students on a brand tour. The examples quoted by him were quite significant in terms of global applications as they were drawn from various countries across the world. The visual impact which his presentation has left on the minds of the students would surely remain forever.  

The students commented that they are looking forward for more guest lectures of this kind.
