As a part of the curriculum & to enhance the practical awareness of the various subjects, the Department of Commerce conducted a Guest Lecture for the students of the B.Com second year on 3rd August, 2011 on the topic – “Innovations in Banking Sector & Career Opportunities in Banking sector”.
The Guest Speaker was Mr.I.Srinivas , AGM and Faculty of SBI Staff Training college. Mr. I.S. Rao has done his Masters from “A.P. Agricultural University, Hyderabad (Now Acharya Ranga Agril Univ.) and he is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He has been in the Banking Sector for the past 25 years and during his tenure he had been associated with The Syndicate Bank & The State Bank of India.
He first delivered a lecture on Latest Innovation in Banking Sector. He has emphasized on specific topics like core banking solution, diversification, technology and infrastructure, etc. He then spoke about the oppurtunities in the Banking Sector. He elaborated on the various levels/cadre of posts which the students can opt for and eligibility criteria to enter into. He also suggested the students on the kind of choice they need to make towards then career in Banks, both in Public Sector & Private Sector.
The students were highly engrossed & captivated by the lecture as it dealt with the current practical examples pertaining to the various sectors. They also put across their element of doubts to seek clarification of the subject. The session gave a broad overview of the various aspects of Banking Sector and its relevance.
