As part of the extension activities for the students the Department of Commerce has organized its second field visit for the B.Com students from the advertising stream. The purpose of the visit was to take their classroom learning to the real business world where they get an opportunity to interact with the professionals from the industry and get the required practical exposure about the subject. A small group of students set off on their visit on the 17th of December, 2010, to the “BREEZE ADVERTISING (P) LTD” at Somajiguda. Inspite of being a holiday on that day, it didn’t deter the spirit of the students from going.
BREEZE ADVERTISING (P) LTD was started in 1992 with just a small number of clients. Today its client list includes many big business houses and has won many awards for creative excellence in the ADEX competition conducted by the Advertising Club, Hyderabad. After the initial introductions Mr. S. VIJAY KUMAR - Managing Director, a professional with 30 years of experience in the field, had an interactive session with the students where he briefed them about the working structure of an Ad- Agency. He explained about the various departments, the kind of work handled and the challenges faced by each of them. He very patiently answered the questions put forth by the students. He also briefed them about the skills which they would have to improve/acquire to shine in the field of their interest in an ad-agency – Creative, copywriting, client servicing, media planning etc. looking at the interest and enthusiasm of the students Mr. Vijay gave the students an opportunity to meet his designers and copywriters which was not part of the schedule planned.
The second session was taken by Mr. C. Ratnakar Rao, Director – Strategic Planning. Mr. Ratnakar with his wide experience had given insights into various aspects of market surveys, strategic planning and budgeting, quoting live examples out of his day to day experience. he explained them about the shift paradigm in the making of ads and their conveying of messages. The students were then taken around the premises. The students spent more time in the studio where the ads are designed.
Overall it was an enriching experience where the students had thoroughly enjoyed the trip and had expressed their deepest gratitude to both the speakers for sharing their valuable expertise and suggested that they looked forward for more such visits.
