The Department of Economics in collaboration with the Department of Political Science had organized a visit to the Freedom Foundation on 31st July 2010.Freedom Foundation is an NGO which caters to the needs of HIV positive patients & children. Trained Nurses and Ayahs take care of the patients here. A dormitory houses the children who are 28 in number. The dormitory has bunker beds which are comfortable to the children. Besides it also provides treatment to the adults who may admit themselves at the Organisation for a treatment. Schools do not entertain such students because of the stigma attached to the disease. Loyola Academy has however provided admission to a handful of students. All the children including St. Mary’s children had a gala time dancing and swaying to the music. Lunch which was carried was shared by all. The day  ended with utmost satisfaction that we did something purposeful and useful to the society.
