Purpose:
The Department of Mass
Communication at St. Mary’s College organized an educational tour for students
from the Mass Communication discipline to the International Film Festival of
India held at Goa. The purpose of the tour was to expose students to different
genres of films from the national and international circuit and also get to
meet filmmakers present at the venue during the festival. A delegation of 50
students accompanied by three faculty members represented the college at the film festival.
Achievement: This team of students got to watch various
films from the international circuit which focused on subjects ranging from
ethnic identity, politics, and meta-narratives to sexuality, national identity,
and war. Added to this, the students were assigned projects in teams to do film
reviews and also interview filmmakers present at the venue during the festival.
