World Literacy Day-2010

The Department of Statistics observed “World Literacy Day” on 8th of September, 2010 in the Theatrix at 2.30 p.m. The students were encouraged to participate in the Elocution and Collage Competition to bring awareness on the significance of literacy. The topic for Elocution was “Can Literacy make a difference?” and ‘Literacy’ for Collage Competition. Both the topics were announced a day before the competition. The students participated enthusiastically in great number.  The judges of the day were Ms. Ruchira Mithra , lecturer from department of English and Mr.Dayanand Babu, lecturer from Department of Mathematics. They declared K. Sarat of BSc final yeasr  as the winner and Kavya of I B.A Mass com as the runner up. The Winner of Collage competition was Khushboo (II B.A Mass Com) and runner up was Obadhay Ray (I B.A Mass Com)  By the end of the programme, the students became aware that every individual has to put in his/her effort to change the world with literacy and can make a huge difference.
