A talk   by Mrs.  J.  Meena   on Disaster Management. Was organized by the Department of Economics on the 7^th of September. Having worked on various  Assignments she is presently placed with Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Human  Excellence, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.   Ms. Meena shed light on disaster management. It unfolded from   a simple explanation to the complicated reality. Nature could play havoc  and bring loss to both human life as well as property in the form of earthquakes, Cyclones and floods. The power point presentation was simple and effective. The animation in the presentation was well understood by the students. Pictures regarding a   building swaying less during an earthquake when it has fiber foundation appealed to the students immensely. The students were quick to grasp the  information that a building with rounded pillars is less susceptible to earthquakes. The eye of the cyclone and impact of the animated picture was  indeed effective. The embankments of the river and the inundation canals go a long way in checking the floods. The presentation was followed by an open house in which students  raised queries and found the right answers for the same. The programme  concluded .with the memento presented and the vote of thanks proposed by the HOD, Department of Economics, Ms. Ratna Srinivasn.
