The department of life sciences has organized work shop on ‘’Bioinformatics in drug designing’’ on November 18th in collaboration with National Biological Association. Totally 120 students from various colleges have participated in the workshop Work shop began with an formal inaugural session where secretary. Ms. Mary Reddy inaugurated the work shop by lighing the lamp followed by inauguration of st Mary’s wing of NBAS by DIRECTOR MR Mahender Reddy and also we have released third edition of BEACON a news letter of life sciences.
Principal DR.Rabbi puthiran gave the audience a brief profile of the college pride. Mr. Giridhar Prasad president of NBAS gave a brief presentation on benefits of being the members of NBAS Beginning from the inaugural session the work shop has been in enriching experience for all the students. The chief guest Dr. Akash ranjan Head computational and functional genomics lab of CENTER FOR DNA FINGER PRINTING AND DIAGNOSTICS and his team have provided the right food for thought for delivering deeper in to the realms of bioinformatics.
Starting from the introduction of this subject as on interdisciplinary science and proportionate amalgamation of biochemistry, mathematics and information science The entire work shop was divided in to four sessions where the students have come across the different methods of sequence analysis, sequence alignments, molecular modeling and a brief gist on drug designing. the work shop has thrown on importance of studying the evolution and its role in mutations and genome studies. Finally work shop ended with the valedictory session Principal DR. RABBI PUTHIRAN had distributed participation certificates to all the participants and vote of thanks was conveyed by Ms.Deepthi priya Head of the Department of biotechnology. |
