The department of biotechnology has conducted guest lecture on environmental biotechnology by Mr. vivek who is junior research fellow from Anna university environmental sciences department. Mr. vivek a very ardent lover of nature delivered a lecture on hazardous effects of wider usage of plastics in our day to day life. He has shown many alternatives to minimize the usage of plastics .he mentioned that cotton bags or jute bags can be used as an alternate for plastics  During seminars or conferences paper decorative or flowers can be used more  Instead of synthetic polymers. He played few videos on polluted oceans and seas due to wide usage of plastics and how different zoo planktons are destroyed by throwing more plastic bottles on sea shore. He also gave many suggestions to save the environment in our daily life. He also mentioned the western countries food habits and percentage of plastic usage in their daily life. Mukesh of II B.sc biotechnogy student interacted in a very good manner and asked many doubts regarding purification of water, nano technology in controlling the pollution. Finally he concluded the sessions by taking an oath from the students. All the students were very much inspired by the lecture and decided to do their part in saving the environment like a drop in the ocean.
