The Department of Mass Communications conducted four competitions for Prerna 2009. Short filmmaking competition was conducted at the Theatrix where 12 student groups screened their short films. Phaneendranath, Vishnu Chaitanya and Moses John from St. Mary’s College won the 1st Prize and 2nd Prize was won by S.M Murtaza Abbas, Ajit Golchha and Abhinandan Golchha of St. Joseph’s Degree College. The students were judged by Mr. Mazhar, a prominent documentary filmmaker and Mrs. K. Anita, lecturer, Mass Communications. Ad’Venture, was a ad-copy writing competition students designed a print ad for the given product and wrote a copy for it. Surabhi Udas and Rahul Singh of St. Mary’s College bagged the 1st prize for best ad and Mubeen Moin Siddiqui of St. Mary’s College got the 2nd prize.
Photography competition Picsel on the theme ‘Spirit of Hyderabad’ had Rahul Singh of St. Mary’s College winning the 1st Prize while Naba Fatima of St. George’s Degree College won 2nd Prize for the same.
The last competition conducted was Newstory (News Report Writing) where students where given a headline they had to elaborate into a news story. Surabhi Udas of St. Mary’s College won the 1st Prize for the best news report while Joycelyn John of Govt. Degree College for Women won the 2nd Prize. Overall there was a good response by the students for the competitions conducted by the department and many prizes were won by students from guest colleges like St.Joseph’s Degree College, Aurora Degree College, St. Georges Degree College, Govt. Degree College for Women, etc. |
