Ethnic Day
Most Ethnic groups possess aesthetic values central to their culture that are embodied in particular art forms such as music, visual arts, drama and myth. In St. Mary’s College Ethnic Day was organized to create awareness and bring alive the asthetic values in the students by encouraging them to wear the ethnic wear, which is losing its value in galore of present days, when the younger generation are losing their identities as Indians. In order to re-awaken this feeling among the students the students were asked to dress in ethnic garments. The response was tremendous. The students, young and old, boys and girls, were seen parading the stage in sherwanis, ghaghara, lehnga, sarees and traditional dresses etc.. from different states of India. As they say, seeing is believing and truly- A mini India in vibrant colours and style was seen at St. Mary’s in 2007.
