The Gradation Day of St. Mary’s College was celebrated on 2nd February 2008. It was the first time that the college celebrated Gradation Day with such grandeur. The dusk with its hue added color to the event. The evening began with the arrival of the parents to join their wards in the passing out celebration. Both boys and girls in their uniform attire given by the college, participated enthusiastically. There was class-wise photo session before the main programme began. The program began with a word of prayer and college song. The dignitaries on the dais were Prof. Usha Vyasulu Reddy – Chief Guest. Mr. Arogya Reddy – Chairman, Ms. Mary Reddy – Secretary and Correspondent, Mr. B. Mahender Reddy – Director and Dr. T. Rabbi Putiran – Principal.
Dr. T. Rabbi Puthiran welcomed the August gathering and Mr. Joseph Christadoss presented the annual report on behalf of the Principal. Reading verses from the Bible, the Quran and the Bhagawath Geeta were a special feature of the event and they were read out by Mr. Timothy, Mr. Ismail and Mr. Vasudeva Sharma respectively. The Chairman’s address comprised the heritage of the college, the diverse programs of the college and also the future plans of the college. His vision is to make St.Mary’s the best place of learning in India.
The Chief Guest, Prof Usha Vyasulu Reddy, is an eminent academician and administrator. With 3- years of experience in teaching production and research in Development and Communication and Educational Technology, she is well known nationally and internationally. She served Osmania University in the capacity of Professor and Head, Department of communication and Journalism, Director Audio-visual Research Centre and She was Director of the Common Wealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, New Delhi. At present she is Director, Center for Human Development, Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad.Her address was very impressive and inspiring. She shared her own experiences to motivate the students to stand firmly on their feet and take up challenges courageously. She advised them not to wait for a help hand. She added that the world is full of opportunities and that students only need to grab them in the right time and prove their mettle. This was followed by Mr. Mahender Reddy’s address. He briefly spoke on the achievements of students, he encouraged and congratulated them and wished them good luck.
As the sun set, lights were switched off and all the students stood up holding candles in their left hand and raised their right hand up for the oath-taking ceremony. Ms. Mary Reddy lit the first candle and in no time the whole place was glittering with candles. It was a delightful scene to behold. Mr. Ebenezer administered the oath taking in a solemn and meaningful manner.
Certificates were distributed to the best out-going students and a few students expressed their feelings and love for the college. The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Sathya Prasad. It was a moment of mixed feelings for students. Their hearts were heavy, eyes were full and they never felt like parting from the place. It was a grand finale with camera flashes, parting gestures and warm wishes. All the parents, students, members of Management, Principal and staff took part in the fellowship dinner.
