The Department of Commerce observed the International Day for Drug Abuse on 26th June, 2009. As a part of creating awareness on Drugs and its abuses two competitions namely, Chart Making and Essay Writing were conducted.
The topic given was “ Social Aspects of Teenage Drug Addiction”. The response from the students was overwhelming. Around 15 students participated in Chart Making. They exhibited their creative skills through their charts. While some of the charts presented the ill-effects of using drugs, the others depicted drug induced celebrity deaths. They highlighted how drugs ruined their career, health lives and ultimately the social surroundings. There were around 30 participants in the essay writing competition where in the students elaborately opined their views on drug addiction, and how to combat this menace.
