Little Women-The Annual WDC Magazine Released

 Women Development Cell was launched in September, 2007. Apart from maintaining congenial working environment for all the women employees and students, the objective of this cell is to create awareness among the girl students about their rights and instilling into them the confidence at different levels by providing different platforms and opportunities to showcase their talents and help hone them. Volume III of the Annual Journal of WDC titled ‘Little Women’ with the motto ‘Strong Girls, Strong Women’ is also set to be released on 1st September, 2009.

The girl students and the lady members of the staff will also have a chance to exhibit their talent in singing and they will be judged by Ms Sandhya, the daughter-in-law of Dr. P. Susheela, who could not make it to the college due to unavoidable circumstances.

Ms. Sandhya is also a refined musician who was born in a music loving family  and has an innate talent in music. She was trained in Carnatic music at a very young age. With a properly nurtured talent, she used to participate in many competitions in music held in her school and college.

 It was in the year 1999 she made her debut under the Oscar winning A.R.Rahaman  and from there went on to sing more than  one thousand songs. She has many songs from movies, songs of devotion and private albums made in different languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam etc. to her credit. She has largely sung in many tamil movies under the music direction of Maestro Ilayaraja, Deva, Harris Jeyraj, Mani Sharma, Suresh etc. to name a few. There were about 15 girls & Lecturers who participated in the singing competition. The following girls were declared winners:
1. Aparna     BA I Mass Communication
2. Swapna    BSc MScs II
3. Surabhi Sharma MPC I

The lecturers who won the singing competition were:
 Ms. Madhavi C,   HoD Department of Physics & Ms. Vijayshree,  HoD Department of Psychology
