ORIENTATION-DAY-28TH JULY,2010
The N.S.S Unit of St. Mary’s College, Yousufguda organized an Orientation Programme for the newly enrolled volunteers of NSS on 28th July. The Chief Guest was Dr.Anitha Reddy, N.S.S. Program Officer, Kasturba Gandhi College. In her address to the volunteers, Dr. Reddy explained the the importance of N.S.S, shared her rich experience with the volunteers and also answered their queries. The N.S.S Volunteers accompanying her also interacted with the college volunteers and informed them about the work they were doing to bring a difference in the lives of other people. Dr. Radha Varada, N.S.S Programme Officer also addressed the gathering and motivated them to actively involve in various activities.
FRIENDSHIP-DAY-AUGUST-1ST 2010
The volunteers of N.S.S Unit of St.Mary’s along with the Programme Officer Dr. Radha Varada and other Staff Members celebrated Friendship Day at Freedom Foundation, Bola rum. We spend our day there with HIV Positive children and patients. Organized games and various competitions like singing, dancing, and drawing etc. for the inmates and distributed prizes. We all had lunch with them. We also donated bed sheets, sweets, fruits and other eatables. We also donated Rs. 10,000 cash to meet their other expenses. The day spent with those children is a memorable experience and wonderful gesture of humanity expressed by the volunteers.
BLOOD-DONATION CAMP AUGUST 4TH ,2010
N.S.S Unit of St.Mary’s organized a Blood Donation Camp with Lion’s Club, Jubilee Hills, on 4th of August 2010. The N.S.S. Volunteers and the students and staff of St. Mary’s donated 136 Units of blood for the cancer patients
INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR-AUGUST 11,2010
On 11th August, NSS Programme Officer and ten Volunteers attended the International Seminar organized by the N.S.S Unit of Kasturba Gandhi Degree and PG College for Women on’ ROLE OF YOUTH FOR BETTER INDIA’ . It was a wonderful experience and was very informative.

The N.S.S Unit and other students organized a Personality Development Program and a Slogan writing Competition. There was a very enlightening group discussion session on ‘Contribution of Youth in Society'.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION-15TH AUGUST 2010
The NSS Program officer and volunteers celebrated the Independence Day at an orphanage” THARA”. After the flag hoisting the children presented a cultural program .Followed by a speech by the programme officer Dr.Radha Varada highlighting the importance of the day, the sacrifices our freedom fighters and what we can do to retain it and bring our country in the list of the developed countries. The programme ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem. Breakfast was served to everyone. A Few competitions and games were organized and prizes were distributed. Lunch was also organized lunch for the inmates.
WORLD CANCER DAY -16TH AUGUST 2010
To create awareness among the students and volunteers a collage making competition & a power point presentation was organized. For the girl volunteers and students a special presentation was given by Dr. Fatima, a senior gynecologist to create awareness about ‘Breast Cancer.’ It was an informative and enlightening session. Prizes were awarded for collage competition.
WORLD LITERACY DAY -8TH SEPTEMBER 2010
An elocution and collage competition was organized in the college campus. Topic for elocution was ‘‘Can Literacy Make a Difference?” Very enlightening and wonderful ideas were presented by the N.S.S volunteers and other students of the college. The winners were Mohit and Kavya of B.A. Mass. Com.
NSS DAY CELEBRATION-STATE AWARD FUNCTION -24TH SEPTEMBER 2010
NSS State Unit organized STATE AWARD FUNCTION at Ravindra Bharati as a part of NSS DAY Celebration. The NSS Volunteers and Programme Officer attended the function. The volunteers were motivated by the activities of the NSS volunteers from various colleges and universities. The Programme Officer was entrusted the duty of organizing lunch for all the Guests, Programmme Officers and volunteers.
SHRAMDAN-26TH SEPTEMBER 2010
The NSS Volunteers were a part of SHARAMDAN, organized by Dr. Anitha Reddy, Programme Officer Kasturba Gandhi College. At Jubilee Hill Government School-where construction work is going on, they actively contributed for the cause. They were quite satisfied and motivated by it and decided to be a part of the project till its completion.
GANDHI JYANTI - OCTOBER-2ND 2010
NSS Unit of St. Mary’s College along with the other students organized an essay writing competition on “Gandhi’s Non-Violence-Its viability in present scenario”. The winners of the competition are- First Prize-Akash Agarwal. Second Prize-Alekhya-B.A.I st Year and Third Prize-Teja B.Sc II nd Year. Essay competition was followed by Tree Plantation Programme in Yousufguda Basti in which the volunteers participated with enthusiasms and planted around 50 plants. They interacted with the youth of the Basti and requested them to take care of the plants and also explained there importance.
PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 18 NOVEMBER 2010
A Work shop on Personality Development was organized by the NSS Unit. Mr. Abhiram Krishna, Director South State Business School addressed the gathering. He highlighted the increasing importance of communicative skills apart from the technological skills. He also conducted a personality test.
WORLD AIDS DAY: DECEMBER 1ST 2010
NSS Unit observed the Worlds Aids Day. On this occasion the volunteers organized an aids awareness camp in the college campus and surrounding locality. They also visited Freedom Foundation Bolarum –A home for positive children, spent time with them and distributed sweets, fruits, books and other articles.
SPECIAL WINTER CAMP- DECEMBER 1ST TO 7TH 2010
Special Winter Camp 2009-2010 was conducted at our adopted village Chandapur, Medak District from December 1st to 7TH 2010. Forty five Students along with the Programme Officer Dr. Radha Varada, physical instructor Mr. Vijay Bhaskar Reddy and Mr.K.T.Srinivas organized seven days special camp as per the instructions given by the O.U. NSS CO-ORDINATOR, Prof. Ramakrishna. The activities of the camp comprised of i) Aids Awareness Camp, ii) Academic and Economic Survey Camp; iii) Health Check –up Camp; iv) Personality Development Programme; v)Government Policies Awareness Programme; vi) Career Counseling Programme and vii) Cultural and sports day. It was a wonderful experience and the volunteers enjoyed thoroughly their interaction with the children, youth and villagers and their stay in different environment.
TWO –DAY S SEMINAR BY MAKE –A DIFFERENCE (MAD): DECEMDER 8TH AND 9TH
A two day seminar was organized by the organization Make –A Difference, which is involved in teaching the unprivileged children on holidays and develop the infrastructure like Library, Teaching Learning Material etc. They addressed the NSS Volunteers and other students informing them about their activities, enrollment process and training programme. Nearly 50 volunteers enrolled themselves along with the Programme Officer Dr. Radha Varada to teach English. They also took the responsibility of developing a Library at Thara Foundation-A home for street children.

NSS Volunteers, Programme Officer and few others celebrated Republic Day at the Government School, Yousufguda. Hoisted the National Flag, presented a brief cultural prgramme highlighting the significance of the Day and distributed sweets and snacks among the children.

ACADEMIC AND ECONOMIC SURVEY CAMP
An academic survey was conducted by the volunteers divided in group and accompanied by few village youth went door to door collected information about the number of educated members in the family and encouraged the youth to pursue higher studies. After lunch they conducted an economic survey of the village ad prepared a report on the economic status of the families and discussed with the youths about various carrier options in various fields.

MEDICAL CAMP
A Medical camp was organized on the third day of the camp for the school children, youths and villagers. Dr. Rekha, from Osmania Hospital accompanied by a nurse, Sudha, volunteered for the cause. Around 110 school children, 27 youths, women and old were checked and necessary medical assistance was provided. General medicines for fever, cold etc were distributed and a First Aid Kit was donated to the school.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
A workshop on personality development was organized. Program officer Dr. Radha Varada addressed the gathering which was translated by a volunteer Obodaya and Alekhya. Volunteers interacted with the youth explained the importance of learning English and also conducted a session on communicative English.

GOVERNMENT POLICIES AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Mr. K.T.Srinivas conducted a government policy awareness programme. He informed the youth about the policies of the government related to education, employment opportunities and other facilities provided by the government about rural development and how they can avail those.

CAREER COUNSELLING POGRAMME
A career counseling camp was organized on the sixth day of the camp. The volunteers prepared a list and made a presentation for youth informing them about the various career opportunities in various fields. Minimum qualifications required for them, to acquire at least basic working knowledge of computer and other technical skills.

CULTURAL AND SPORTS DAY
On the last day of the camp a cultural and sports day was organized. A cricket match was organized between the village youth and the volunteers, which they enjoyed the most. Several games and competitions were organized for the school children and prizes were distributed. Lunch was organized for all the school children teachers and village youth. After lunch a brief cultural programme was presented by school children and the volunteers joined them and enjoyed. The village school Principal gifted the NSS unit a show piece as a token of appreciation for their efforts.

DAY 1(11-11-2011)
INAUGRATION AND SHARAMDAN
Forty –five NSS Volunteers accompanied by the Principal Mr. Ramarao and NSS Programme Officer Dr. Radha Varada reached the Karmikanagar Government Primary School around 09 a.m. The Camp was inaugurated by the Prof. Ramakrishna, Programme co-ordinator Osmania University. He addressed the gathering explained the objective and importance of NSS and motivated the volunteers for the good work and the effort to bring a difference in the lives of the under-privileged.
The NSS Volunteers cleaned the campus and surrounding slum area of the Government Primary School. They Painted the school campus, Organized an awareness programme for the school children and the residents of the area. Girls and boys volunteers in groups visited the houses and interacted with the people explained the importance of cleanliness and how to keep their locality clean and what facilities they can claim from the local bodies.

Around 150 school children, 27 youths, women and old were checked and necessary medical assistance was provided. CLEAN AND GREEN DRIVE
On the third day of the special camp the NSS Volunteers along with the youth and school children planted trees in the nearby area. They donated some potted plants for the school, organized an awareness programme on environmental issues and explained the children how they can take care of the plants. They also Interacted with the youth and explained how they could contribute in maintaining hygiene in the locality.

CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION
On the occasion of Children’s Day a variety programs were conducted. Volunteers entertained the children by various cultural program. They Conducted some competitions for the children like drawing, singing, and quiz and dancing and distributed prizes. They also Organized lunch for the children and teachers of school and also distributed stationary among the children.
