National Service Scheme (NSS) at St. Mary's was inaugurated on 8th August, 2008 by Dr. K Arjun Rao, Co-Ordinator of NSS, Osmania University. The Guest was given a floral welcome by Ms. Purnima, a student of B.A. II year. The Indian tradition of starting anything with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, marked the beginning of the NSS Unity at St. Mary's. Dr. Rabbi Puthiran declared the Unit open.
The lamp was lit by the chief guest of the day, Dr Arun Rao, program officer, Dr. Radha Vardha, the principal Mr. Rabbi Puthiran and the team leader, Mr. P Supreeth, which was followed by the college song and later by a welcome dance by Ms. Priyanka of First year. This was followed by the chief guest's address in which he told that NSS was started in the year 1969, October. He also explained the significance of the NSS Logo and suggested that by adopting a village as a part of the commitment towards serving the society is the best was to participate in the NSS.
The principal encouraged the volunteers for participating and also asked the Advisory committee members - Mr. K.T Srinivas, Mrs. Akshara Singh, Dr. Radha Vardha, Mrs. Anu Victor, Mrs. Kavitha Thakur and Mrs. Zubbeda Hashmi to help them.
The program came to an end with the National Anthem.
