The placement cell in St. Mary’s is over 2 years old now and has been successful in placing many students as interns / employees in the corporate world. The objective of the placement cell is to encourage number of internships and create awareness among the students about the professional requirements of the employers and through the internships the students learn by experiencing the working culture of the companies and have a more mature understanding of the needs of the employers. Internship also helps in keeping in touch with various companies, not only gives a practical exposure to the students, but also helps the placement cell in developing further contacts and strengthening relationship for future placements in the campus.
2009-10 saw the corporate giants like Deloitte, G E Money Servicing, Franklin Templeton, Wipro and Apollo Hospitals on the St. Mary’s campus for placements. The response was overwhelming. This being the first year when so many companies were invited to the college, the college was bustling with activities. Registrations, submitting the resumes, practicing to speak in front of friends and friends’ friends with mixed emotions, some nervous fearing failure, some bursting with enthusiasm and confidence. This was the condition of the students lined up for the placement interviews. Every company had almost the same flow of events starting with the presentation in the theatrix, followed by the aptitude test-written and online, further followed by the telephonic rounds and interviews. The process was a 7-8 hrs of long process of selections. Every round was an elimination round. Most of the companies that visited offered letters of selection to the successful candidates.
