ST.MARY'S - Sania Mirza
Sania Mirza

She joined St. Mary's in June, 2004 and enrolled herself in B A (Mass Communication). Despite being a globe trotting tennis player who competes in prestigious tournaments across the world, she finds time to attend college now and then, never missing a class when she comes and listens keenly to teaching lectures.

A well-brought up individual, she is humble and down-to-earth, friendly with her college mates and respectful towards her teachers. She participates with élan in college fresher's party and was among the contenders at the fashion show / Miss Fresher.

She began playing tennis at the age of six, turning professional in 2003 and is the highest ranked female tennis player ever from India. She has some notable feats to her credit:
  • Is the first Indian woman to win a WTA singles title defeating Alyona Bondarenko of Ukraine in the Hyderabad Open Finals.
  • Won the Wimbledon Championships Girls' Doubles title in 2003.
  • Is the first Indian woman to get to the third round of a Grand Slam.
Good looking and gorgeous, she is an ideal mix of traditionalism and modernity and loves rap and is resistant to sentimental music.
