Friday, the 18th of July, 2008 will be remembered by the members and organizer of SCEI (Science Club for Emerging Intellectuals) as it will have given them a sigh of relief and a joy of success in their second consecutive meeting. The programme was conducted in the theatrix where it was compered by Mishbah and Winnita of final year. The event was inaugurated with the college song performed by the college choir followed by the presentation of a bouquet to the chief guest for the day Dr.Sudha Vani PhD, Pdf .
It was then that the core of the event began with a PowerPoint presentation by Pavani Reddy of B.Sc Biotechnology III A. The presentation provided valuable information to the students looking forward to pursue their higher studies abroad. It could provide answers to most of the FAQ’s and qualms that arise in students minds who aim at going abroad for further education.
The presentation was followed by an entertaining yet educative skit by the students represented by all three years. The play mainly focused on the dilemmatic situation of many students who initially chose Biotechnology with huge expectations, but get disappointed very soon and switch to other fields, blaming the field of science instead of themselves. This enlightening act was received with a great applause.
After the skit was presented, a couple of documentaries shot by the alumni of our college, who have been pursuing their masters abroad in countries such as U.S.A and U.K. The ex students named Wasim, Phanidhar, Babitha and Sawan gave valuable tips about the acads, expenditure, accommodation and job prospects abroad.
The enlightening documentaries were followed by the chief guest Dr.Sudha Vani’s Speech. She spoke on recent advances, achievements in Biotechnology, the educational opportunities in India and the role of Indian students pursuing Biotechnology. The climax of the event was a funny yet informative presentation on the importance of DNA in life and the abnormalities observed in case of any error in its sequence by Jagruti Sachanandani of B.Sc Biotechnology III Year.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Swetha of B.Sc Biotechnology III Year and it marked the end to this innovative informative successful event. The organizer Mrs. Sunitha Panigrahi and others were appreciated for the hard work they had put in to make it a success. The Students as well were appreciated for having followed the dress code for the day, white. Probablym the one liner to describe the event would be “SCEI was successful again.” |
