Annual Journal 'Little Women' Released
The two dynamic elements and change agents of this millennium are undoubtedly "Women" and "Youth." Recognizing this, the Women's Development Cell of St. Mary’s College invited Ms. Jyothi Rao, Vice President of ALEAP for releasing its annual journal. Volume IV of the annual journal titled ‘Little Women’ with the motto ‘Strong Girls, Strong Women’ was released on 27th September, 2010 in a special program organized in the theatrix of the college. The WDC magazine was released by Mr. Mahender Reddy, Director of St. Mary’s College in the presence of the chief guest Ms. Jyothi Rao, Dean of the college, cmdr Ajith Kumar and Ms Chaitanya Reddy, one of the Directors of St. Mary's Educational Society .

The program started at 2:30 P.M with a welcome address by Swathi, a second year BA Mass Communication student and then felicitation of the chief guest by Ms. Chaitanya Reddy. This was followed by lighting of the lamp by the chief guest along with Ms. Chaitanya Reddy and Ms. Deepa Agarwal, Co-ordinator WDC, St. Mary’s college.

A skit was performed by the students of St. Mary’s college- Nissar, Naaz, Krishna, Aparna and Harshitha- on the theme of women empowerment in today’s world. They also saluted all the girls and women staff of the college in recognizing their talent in managing home as well as profession.

Ms. Jyothi Rao addressed the girls’ students and lady staff of St. Mary’s College, on basic financial planning and how to become a chance entrepreneur to raise one's self esteem by giving her own example. She also invited the students and staff for an industrial visit. This was followed by a dance by Swathi, an active member of WDC.

The program was finally concluded at around 3:30 pm with the vote of thanks by Ms Kavitha Takur Asst Head, Dept of Commerce. Few students and WDC committee members stood back to take a snap with the chief guest and director.

Amercian thinker and philosopher R.W. Emerson said, "Women are by their power of conversation and their social influence the civilizers of humankind." He believed that women are the bastions of civilization and culture and the WDC of St. Mary’s College supports these sentiments and continues its efforts - to empower women in all segments of society towards ensuring a fair and a happier tomorrow
