Faculty Development Program 2011-12
 
The Department of Commerce has organized a Faculty Development Programme on “Feasible Areas of Research and its Methodology” for the members of the Department on 26th of November 2011 in conference hall. The main purpose of the session was to have a motivational talk by a scholar so as to encourage more members from the Department to pursue Ph.D.

Prof. M. Usha, Head, Department of Commerce, Nizam College, Hyd. was the speaker. She is the recipient of the Best Faculty Award by IPA in 2005 and the life member of APEA, ICA and IAA. Under her guidance 3 scholars have been awarded M.PHIL and 6 scholars are pursuing PH.D. She published 9 papers in reputed journals. She has organized 2 International Seminars. She has edited 3 books, and co-authored 1 book. She has organized 2 National Workshops, 3 Industrial Meets and 2 Training Programmes.              
 
Madam gave a deep insight regarding what is research and how to pursue it. She started with the areas having lot of scope for research in India like finance, trade & tourism, service sector etc. and explained the pros and cons of each area. She also emphasized on the probable topics under each area.
 
She stressed on the research procedures, effective methodologies and chapterization scheme to be followed for efficient thesis writing.  She also provided the faculty members with the web sites and data collection sources at national and international levels. She concluded the conference with the interactive session clearing the doubts and breaking the ice between the faculty and research. The session was very encouraging and resourceful for the faculty members.
