The Department of Commerce celebrated The International Students' Day on 17th November, 2009. This day is celebrated by students' councils across the world to encourage foreign education and to promote Multi Culturism. As part of celebrations the foreign students of St. Mary’s college were interviewed by the members of CAMY and a small get-together was organized for them. The CAMY members cordially invited the foreign students to the theatrix for the programme which was to commence at 2:20pm. A presentation was given by Nisar Uddin on the International Students Day- its History, origin and reasons for celebrating this day. He also emphasized on the importance of education abroad. The foreign students expressed their views on the Indian education, its culture and St. Mary’s College. One of the students said she loves the Hyderabadi Biryani even though it is very spicy for their taste, they all expressed that they love the ambience at St. Mary’s college and the people here are cool, although they miss their home country. At this juncture all the CAMY members unanimously voiced  that they would always be supportive and helpful to the foreign students, in the same way as they would expect from others when they go abroad for their studies.
Next, an extempore competition was held where the students expressed their views on various topics like Global Education, Western Culture etc. Mr. Yasser Uddin of B.Com IC, was adjudged the Best Speaker and Miss. Sabahat of B.Com IIE, was declared the runner-up. All the students along with the foreign students then joined together for the refreshments.
