Purpose:  The Department of Mass Communication arranged for this guest lecture keeping in view the needs of the BA students to understand the scope of media studies in India and abroad. The talk was also aimed at giving them an overview of the importance of understanding the basics of mass communication before pursuing higher education or a career. 

Profile of the Speaker:  Mr. Satya Prasad has over 10 years of experience in the media, corporate, and academic sectors. He was a journalist with The Hindu before teaching journalism to BA students here in Hyderabad. He was also the faculty at St. Mary’s college for a period of two years before he moved to Oman as a journalist for the leading daily newspaper there. Mr. Satya Prasad is currently at the Sultan Qaboos University in Ibri, Oman,  as the Head at the Department of Communication studies.   

Achievement:  The Mass Communication students were introduced to trends outside the graduation degree they were currently part of and the avenues available to them for pursuing education in India and abroad. The talk enlightened the students about the importance of having a good foundation in this discipline and having a strong awareness level to aid them in their future. The students enjoyed the session and actively participated by asking questions and also sharing their observations.
