Techniques of Improvement of Language skills.

The Department of English organized a guest lecture for the  IIyr  B.com, B.Sc and B.A students on  27th Aug, 09.  Dr Mrs. Amitha Ruth, Asst.    Professor, Dept of English, Second Language Studies, English and Foreign Language University, Hyderabad, was the resource person. She delivered a discourse on the ‘Techniques of Improvement of Language skills.’
Before she began her lecture, she involved the students in a couple of activities. She gave a brief description of Listening, Speaking, Reading skills and also their sub skills. After this, she dealt in detail the Writing skills n their sub skills.  Then she concentrated on the aspect of how to write an academic essay/article n then proceeded to the art of writing reflective and narrative essays. She concluded by saying that of all the skills, the writing skills are very useful to them as they are students. The lecture was an eye opener, specially on the writing skills, for all the students and lecturers who attended. The lecture was enriching and most of the students were motivated with various applications of  the use of Language. It was an interactive session all through  and the  students participated  thoroughly.  The main objective  of this lecture  was to explore various dimensions of the Improvement  of various Language skills and discover its practical applicability in the outside world.
