Bio-Molecular Techniques - 26 & 27 November, 2009
The department of biotechnology organized a work shop on biomolecular techniques on 25 & 26th of November 2008.This work shop was an inter collegiate event, where in several colleges participated. The work shop was inaugurated the Chairman, Mr. B.A. Reddy, Director Mr. B. Mahinder Reddy and our principal sir Dr.Rabbi Puthiran. There was a lamp lightening ceremony by the HOD of chemistry Dr. Suhashini and HOD of life sciences Ms. Aruna Kumari.

Ms. Shoba Reddy lecturer in  chemistry, welcomed the gathering. The Chairman, Director, and Principal also addressed the gathering and empasized on the recent advances in the field of science and said that such type of workshop would help the students to get hands on training on the recent techniques which are now in great demand to the industries. There was a brief introduction to the resource team by Sunitha Panigrahi, lecturer in biotechnology. The resource persons were from
VENTURA biotech labs and the resource persons were Dr. Usha from university of U.S senior scientist in Molecular Biology , Mr. L.N. Reddy applications scientist in proteomics and Dr. Shilaja senior scientist in Molecular Biology.

The work shop comprised of 3 major techniques - PCR (Polymerase chain reaction),isolation of DNA from a bacterial cell, amplification of DNA Biotransformation in bacterial cells Chomatographic techniques  (ion exchange chromatography, HPLC, Affinity chromatography).

Power Point Presentations on the theoretical procedures enabled in better understanding of the concept, which was followed by practical sessions in the Biotechnology and the Biochemistry labs.

T
he work shop ended on 26th at 5.30 pm and it was then followed by a valedictory function where the students from other colleges expressed their view on the workshop and the students were given certificates. The students were satisfied and well trained on the above techniques dealt on these two days.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Sunitha Panigrahi lecture in Biotechnology.
