Akshara Singh

MA, M.Phil., Ph.D

Assistant Professor of Hindi

Akshara Singh joined St. Mary’s College in 2004 and has teaching experience that spans nearly 25 years. She keeps updating herself with the latest knowledge in her discipline and likes to interact with the students on contemporary issues and topics. Passionate about her work, she sets realistic goals and displays professionalism in her undertakings. She has served the institution as a member of several committees.

M. Chaitanya

MA (French), Advanced Diploma in Spanish

Lecturer in French

Chaitanya has nearly 10 years of experience in teaching, translation and interpretation (French and Spanish). She is proficient at teaching both teenagers and adults. A quick learner who can absorb new ideas and adapt to new challenges, her students greatly admire her teaching skills. She loves European languages and is currently mastering German.

G. Chris Lenina Peters

Lecturer in English

Chris Lenina Peters has worked in several institutions, including as Assistant Professor at Women’s College, Koti. Beyond academics, she spends her time in service of the underprivileged. She was awarded ‘Jewel of Telangana’ by Nexus ÉclatHonorsSociety International, Kansas, and USA. Her strong points are her positive attitude, dedication and commitment to her students. In addition to a Masters in English, she also has a Certificate of Proficiency in Spanish from English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU).

T. Ebenezer

MA, MPhil.

Lecturer in English

Ebenezer comes with an experience of more than 30 years and has been an integral part of the institutions under St. Mary’s Educational Society since 1988. He is known for his dedication and commitment to his subject. He is popular among students not only as a teacher but also as a mentor and counsellor. He has served the college in different roles, including as Vice-Principal and as Chairman of the Examinations Committee. He has a passion for writing and peer teaching. He is an accomplished musician and trains choirs.

C. Ismail

MA, PGDTA

Lecturer in Arabic

Ismail has been in the teaching profession for about 30 years, and joined St. Mary’s Junior College, Yousufguda, in 1997. He has been with St. Mary’s College since its inception. He is dedicated to his profession and has been Head of the Department of Second Languages and a member of the Examination Committee. He continuously updates himself with the latest in the field of language and literature in order to guide students more effectively.

T. Joseph Christadoss

MA, M. Phil

Lecturer in English

Joseph Christadoss has been teaching English Language, Literature and Communication for more than 30 years. He has been with the institutions of St. Mary’s Educational Society since 1997. For over a decade, he has been a key member of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St. Mary’s College and was its coordinator during two successive NAAC accreditations. He has been an effective resource person at various national seminars and workshops on quality enhancement in higher education. He also has a doctoral degree and several certifications in Advanced Leadership and Basic Counselling. Currently, he is the Head of the Department for Social Sciences, Mass Communication and Life Skills. He was recognized by the Government of Telangana with the State Award for Meritorious Teachers in September, 2018. He has also won the Indira Priyadashini National Award for Excellence in Education in November 2017.

A.S.Jyotsna

MA

Lecturer in English

A.S. Jyotsna teaches English and Soft Skills at St. Mary’s College. She also works with the Telangana State Police in offering Life Skills Sessions for the inmates of Chanchalguda and Cherlapallyprisons. She has nearly two decades of experience in teaching graduate and post-graduate students. She has co-authored a grammar workbook for undergraduate students and is currently working on a book for students of Engineering. She has translated the Hindi book on the principles of Kriya Yoga, Tantrasar, into English, for Belur math, Kolkata. She received the Best Teacher Award from Ybrant Digital Technologies in 2010. Currently, she is the faculty mentor for VoxPopuli, the Public Speaking Club at St.Mary’s College and is also one of the coordinating members of the NSS Unit.

J. Michael Preetham

MA

Assistant Professor of English

Michael Preetham has been into teaching and training for nearly 20 years. He has been with St. Mary’s College since 2013, prior to which he worked with several prestigious institutions in India and abroad. He comes across as amiable, industrious, dedicated and cordial. He constantly updates himself with the latest developments in the fields of Literature, Language and Soft Skills. A mentor to many, he makes a positive impact on the lives of his students, colleagues and friends. Currently, he heads the Department of English and Languages and the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

Olivia Lazarus

MA, M.Phil., B.Ed

Lecturer in English

Olivia Lazarus has been into the teaching profession for more than 30 years, beginning her career with St. Mary’s Education Society in 1996. Teaching is her passion and she has won the admiration of many a student. A hard-working and sincere professional, she has served our college in diverse roles, including as Head of the Department of English. Currently, she is the coordinator for the BA Programme.

Saikiran D

MA

Assistant Professor of English

Saikiran D. taught English at an engineering college before he joined St. Mary’s College in 2016. Prior to taking up teaching, he interned with an advertising agency. His research interests include Masculinity Studies, African-American Literature, Postcolonial Literature and Minority Studies. He has an eclectic approach to acquiring new information and learning new languages. He has Beginner Level Certificates in Russian and Arabic from the University of Hyderabad.

Vasanth Rao

MA, B.Ed

Lecturer in Sanskrit

Vasanth Rao has been teaching intermediate and undergraduate students for more than 10 years now. Prior to joining the St. Mary’s College in 2016, he worked with several prestigious institutions at Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam. He is lively and amiable by nature and passionate about Sanskrit. He is committed to making a difference in the lives of his students and friends. He is also an instructor of Yoga and Meditation.

G.Yamini

MA

Lecturer in English

Yamini joined the Department of English in June 2017. Her specialization and area of research is Indian Writing in English. Prior to joining St. Mary’s College, she taught at the undergraduate level for 3 years. She is a highly disciplined and focused teacher. Her classrooms are very interactive and student-centric, with a lot of lively interaction with students. Music being her passion, she enjoys writing verses and singing semi-classical songs. She excels in Indian semi-classical music.
